Most 'Top 10' students aim for science careers

Pickerington High School Central

Pickerington High School Central will celebrate the class of 2010 as well as its "Top 10" seniors during the school's graduation ceremonies on June 5.

Graduation will take place at World Harvest Church, 3595 Gender Road, Canal Winchester. Central's commencement tentatively is slated for 1 p.m.

While class valedictorians or salutatorians are not named, PHS Central does honor the "Top 10" students in each graduating class.

This year's top students, in alphabetical order, are:

  • Usama Awan, son of Zafar and Samina Awan. He will attend Ohio State University, where he plans to study biomedical engineering.
  • Jennifer Hewitt, daughter of Kent and Karen Hewitt. She will attend Duke University and major in biomedical engineering.
  • Harika Kantamneni, daughter of Venkat Kantamneni and Sri Chalasani. She will attend OSU and plans to study biochemistry.
  • Zach Kristoff, son of Keith and Lori Kristoff. He will attend Rutgers University, where he will major in pharmacy.
  •  Haley Nieman, daughter of Henry and Debora Nieman. She will attend Clemson University. She is undecided on a major.
  •  Chris Partlow, son of Donald and Ronda Partlow. He will attend OSU and plans to study either chemical engineering or physics.
  •  Nic Rush, son of Kenneth Rush and Sophia Thompson. He will attend Miami University (Ohio) and is undecided on a major.
  •  Megan Sharrett, daughter of Jay and Linda Sharrett. She will attend Miami University (Ohio) and will study pre-optometry.
  •  Jackson Thomas, son of Michael and Kim Thomas. He will attend OSU and plans to major in engineering.
  •   Leah Wharton, daughter of Michael and Amy Wharton. She will attend the College of Wooster and is undecided on a major.

The seniors will take final exams June 2, 3 and 4 prior to graduation.


 Pickerington High School North

Pickerington High School North will recognize its "Top 10" students in the class of 2010 next month during its June 5 graduation ceremonies.

Graduation will take place at World Harvest Church, 3595 Gender Road, Canal Winchester, and is tentatively slated for 9 a.m.

While class valedictorians or salutatorians are not named, PHS North does honor the "Top 10" students of each graduating class.
In alphabetical order, this year's "Top 10" are:

  • Dirk Auman, son of Brian and Madeline Auman. He will attend Miami University (Ohio) and study biochemistry/microbiology.
  • Greg Black, son of Phil and Terri Black. He will attend Bowling Green State University and major in mathematics.
  •   Sruti Brahmandam, daughter of Srinivasa and Aruna Brahmandam. She will attend the Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine offered through the University of Akron, where she will study natural sciences.
  • Kathryn Gardocki, daughter of Paul and Alice Gardocki. She will attend the University of Dayton, where she will study education.
  • Brian Good, son of Steve and Carolyn Good. He will attend DePauw University, where he will study physics.
  • Caitlin Hughes, daughter of Mark and Carla Hughes. She will attend Butler University and major in mathematics education.
  • Michael Mulroy, son of Steve and Faith Mulroy. He will attend the University of Miami (Fla.) and major in physics.
  • Radhika Tampi, daughter of Pradip and Maya Tampi. She will attend Ohio State University and study molecular genetics.
  • Austin Way, son of Kevin and Valia Way. He will attend Ohio University, where he will major in physics.
  • Joshua Yen, son of Simon and Wen Yen. He will attend OSU and currently is undecided on a major.


The seniors will take their final exams on June 2, 3 and 4 prior to graduation.
