Local children and their parents will get a chance to kick off the holiday season next month with an annual morning visit with Santa Claus.

The Pickerington Parks and Recreation Department's sixth annual "Breakfast with Santa" will be held Dec. 4 at the Pickerington Senior Center, 150 Hereford Drive.

Tickets for the event, which will include seatings at 8 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m., currently are on sale through the parks and recreation department, 100 Lockville Road. Tickets are available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, or by mailing checks payable to the Pickerington Senior Center to the parks department, to the attention of Don Ross.

"Breakfast with Santa is an event for children and families to enjoy the holiday season together for breakfast," said Rebecca Medinger, Pickerington's recreation administrator. "There are many activities along with breakfast, such as a Secret Santa Shop, kids' crafts, a bake sale, Christmas music, Santa and his helpers and more.

"You can also mail in an order for tickets. Please include (your) name, address, phone, breakfast time (8 a.m., 9:30 a.m. or 11 a.m.), number of tickets and check or cash," she said. "Mail-in orders will have to stop by 'will call' to pick up their tickets the day of the event. Tickets will not be mailed prior to the event."

The cost is $6 for all attendees, except for children age 2 and younger. Tickets will be on sale through Dec. 2, and will not be sold the day of the event.

Only 500 tickets will be sold for the breakfast, so those wishing to attend are encouraged to purchase their tickets in advance, Medinger said. Proceeds from the sale of tickets will go to the Pickerington Senior Center.

"The event supports the Pickerington Senior Center and to offer a great activity for children and their families for the holiday season," Medinger said.

In addition to various activities for children and their parents, the Pickerington Suzuki Fiddles and the Yule Two will provide holiday music at Breakfast with Santa.

Additional information about the event can be obtained by calling the city's parks and recreation department at (614) 833-2211.
