POP Community Center for the Arts, 895 Old Diley Road, has announced two upcoming classes.

POP Community Center for the Arts, 895 Old Diley Road, has announced two upcoming classes.

"Dragonfly Wall Plaque" will be offered from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 19. Students will paint a clay wall plaque with acrylic paints. They will learn painting techniques and ways to embellish the project using these techniques. The class is for ages 9 and older. The cost is $13.

"Cactus Garden in a Pot," a parent-and-child class, will be offered from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 30. Children must be at least 8 years old to participate. They will paint a terra cotta pot and plant stick with acrylic paints, then plant cacti in the pot. The cost is $15.

Local governments, school districts, nonprofits and charities are invited to apply for SWACO's 2011 grant program.

The grants are designed to assist with projects that further SWACO's mission of reducing waste, increasing recycling and growing reuse efforts. Last year's grant recipients included Otterbein College, the Canal Winchester School District and the Boy Scouts in Washington Township.

Grant recipients are required to provide a 25-percent cash or in-kind match.

The deadline for applications is April 16.

The Ohio Nursery and Landscape Association elected new board members at its annual business meeting and breakfast.

New members for 2011 include Maria Sambuco from Brickman in Pickerington and Michael Satkowiak from Mulch Manufacturing Inc. in Reynoldsburg.
