Glenn Culp of Pickerington was recently named Volunteer of the Year for his participation in the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.

VITA volunteers provide free tax assistance to taxpayers whose incomes are generally $49,000 and below and who cannot prepare their own returns.

Culp's initial VITA involvement began more than four years ago when he started volunteering at the Columbus Public Library's Livingston Avenue branch. This year, he became the site coordinator at the Livingston branch.

Through Culp's leadership, the Livingston Branch Library's VITA site achieved an increase in number of volunteers and tax preparation days, doubling the number of taxpayers served with respect to the previous year. Culp also received the 2011 Franklin County EITC Coalition Volunteer of the Year award.
