First BeanFest contest winners listed

The first Olde Village BeanFest, sponsored by the Olde Pickerington Village Business Association, was held Saturday, Nov. 3 on West Columbus Street in Pickerington.

Winners of the Chili Cook-off and the Taco Bell Challenge -- Bean Burrito Eating Contest were:

Chili Cook-off

People's Choice Award -- first place ($100 prize), Tim Curie, "Mid-hot Meat and Bean Chili;" second place ($50 prize), Jim McSkimin, "Havana Moon Chili;" and third place ($25 prize), TIE: David Beckham, "Grilled Chicken Chili" and Rita Gram, "Game Day Chili."

Judges' Choice Award --($50 prize) Jim McSkimin, "Havana Moon Chili."

The judges were Pickerington Mayor Lee Gray, Pickerington City Councilwoman Cristie Hammond and Pickerington Lions' Club President Brian Fox.

Burrito Contest

The contest was a competition between the Fairfield County Sheriff's office and the Violet Township Fire Department.

The fire department's duo of Andy Smith and Paul Meares won the contest.
