Handbag and items worth $14,000 reported stolen
Pickerington police received a report of a theft of items totaling more than $14,000.
Reports said a Pickerington woman reported at 11:04 a.m. Oct. 19 that someone had stolen her mother's handbag between Oct. 8 and 19 in the 400 block of Oriole Court.
The woman told police her mother kept all of her personal records such as her Social Security number, her green card, passport, Ohio drivers license and family jewelry.
Reports said the estimated worth of the items stolen was $14,301.86.
A 17-year-old Pickerington boy was issued a citation for drug abuse involving marijuana at 12:20 p.m. Oct. 18 at Pickerington Central High School, 300 Opportunity Way.
Reports said the boy was issued the citation after an officer witnessed a suspicious interaction between the boy and another male.
The 17-year-old was released into the custody of his parents and told the juvenile prosecutor's office would be in touch.
A Reynoldsburg resident told Pickerington police at 12:05pm Oct. 18 his wallet and his vehicle keys were removed from his locker at a business in the 1100 block of Hill Road.
Reports said the man later changed his story, stating his vehicle keys were taken from his locker and used to gain access to his vehicle were his wallet was taken and a credit card that had been in the wallet had been used at several locations.
A 28-year-old Pickerington man was arrested and charged with theft at 6:49 p.m. Oct. 18 at a business in the 1000 block of Hill Road.
Reports said the man was later released pending a court date.
An employee of a business in the 1200 block of Hill Road reported at 9:51 p.m. Oct. 18 her credit cards were stolen from her purse that was in the employee locker room.
The woman told police there were no locks in the locker room.
Reports said the the woman's credit cards had been used.
A Reynoldsburg resident told police she stopped at a business in the 1500 block of Cross Creeks Boulevard at 8:53 a.m. Oct. 19 to give her daughter a blanket and when she returned from the business to her vehicle she discovered her purse was missing.
Reports said the purse contained the woman's bank card, drivers license, $20 in cash,a Social Security card and her cell phone.
The woman told police she canceled her bank card before it could be used.
A 65-year-old Carroll man reported his vehicles's tires had been punctured while the vehicle was parked at a business in the 600 block of Hill Road.
A 17-year-old student at Pickerington High School Central, 300 Opportunity Way, was arrested at 9:15 a.m. Oct. 22 and charged with drug abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia.
His mother was called and came to the high school and was told she would be hearing from the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office.
Reports said the student was suspended from school.
A representative of a business in the 12000 block of Stonecreek Drive N.W. reported at 12:26 p.m. Oct. 22 the theft of two pairs of work boots and a jacket worth a combined $324.97. Reports said the theft was believed to have involved two men and a woman.
A 16-year-old Baltimore girl was arrested at 4:43 p.m. Oct. 22 at a business in the 100 block of Postage Drive and charged with theft and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Reports said the the girl's parent was called by the business' loss prevention personnel and was at the store when an officer arrived.
The officer checked the parent's identification and discovered the 43-year-old man was wanted on a warrant filed by the Hocking County Sheriff's Office for Obstructing Official Business.
Reports said the man was taken into custody and later transferred to the custody of a Hocking County Sheriff's Office deputy.
The 16-year-old's mother was then called and came to pickup the girl and they were informed of a a court date, according to reports.
