City Council elects officers, appoints committees

After deliberating in a closed-doors meeting, Pickerington City Council made its choices for 2013 City Council president and vice president Jan. 2, as well as appointed all committee members for the new year.

Councilman Jeff Fix, who was vice president in 2012, made a motion to elect Gavin Blair president and Tony Barletta vice president for 2013.

Both motions passed unanimously.

Fix then moved to appoint council members to committees. The appointments included:

* Public Safety and Community Affairs Committee: Mike Sabatino, chairman; Brian Sauer, vice chairman; Jeff Fix, secretary.

Brian Sauer was named Parks and Recreation Board representative; Jeff Fix, Nuisance Abatement Board member and Chris Schweitzer, Pickerington TV representative.

The committee will meet in 2013 on the Wednesday after the second City Council meeting at 7 p.m.

* City Planning, Projects and Services Committee: Jeff Fix, chairman; Cristie Hammond, vice chairman; Chris Schweitzer, secretary.

Chris Schweitzer was appointed Planning and Zoning representative.

The committee will meet the Wednesday after the second City Council meeting of the month at 7:45 p.m.

* City Administration Committee: Brian Sauer, chairman; Tony Barletta, vice chairman; Chris Schweitzer, secretary.

The committee will meet the Wednesday after the first city council meeting each month at 8 p.m.

* Finance Committee: Gavin Blair, chairman; Jeff Fix, vice chairman; Mike Sabatino, secretary.

Cristie Hammond, Brian Sauer, Chris Schweitzer, and Tony Barletta were all elected to serve as members of the Finance Committee.

The Committee will meet the Wednesday after the first city council meeting of the month at 7 p.m.

Schweitzer was also elected to serve as the Violet Festival Board representative.

Violet trustees elect officers

The Violet Township Board of Trustees designated Terry J. Dunlap Sr. as chairman and Harry W. Myers Jr. vice chairman Jan. 3.

The board of trustees unanimously passed a resolution to hold its meetings on the first and third Wednesdays of the month at 7:30 p.m.
