Bowling event benefits Big Brothers Big Sisters

Big Brothers Big Sisters will hold its Bowl for Kids Sake fundraiser at Rule3 in Pickerington Saturday and Sunday, May 4 and 5.

This is the 25th anniversary celebration for the event that is held at bowling centers throughout Fairfield County. The fundraising goal is $55,000.

The Big Brothers Big Sisters organization is one of the nation's oldest and largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network.

Big Brothers Big Sisters provides children facing adversity with strong, professionally supported one-to-one mentoring relationships that officials say can help children to have higher aspirations, greater confidence, better relationships, avoid risky behaviors and achieve educational success.

Because of corporate sponsors, 100 percent of donation goes directly to help serve local children.

Big Brothers Big Sisters depends on donations to conduct background checks on volunteers to ensure child safety; and provide ongoing support for children, families and volunteers to build and sustain long-lasting relationships, organization officials said.

Area residents can become a Bowl for Kids Sake Supporter by registering a team of 4-5 bowlers and raising a minimum of $30 each bowler.

Teams will bowl two games during their chosen time slot and have the opportunity to win door prizes. Ball and shoe rental are included in the registration fee.
