* Brad Barnett of Pickerington was named Man of the Year by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Central Ohio chapter.

The Woman and Man of the Year earn the title through fundraising efforts on behalf of LLS. Local winners compete for national honors.

Barnett is AVP of Sponsorships, Media & Multicultural at Nationwide Insurance. He became involved with LLS after a goddaughter and niece, as well as two close friends, fought battles with leukemia. His fundraising success allowed his team, Ally's Army, to have its name linked with LLS-funded research.

* The Girl Scouts of Ohio's Heartland Council recently awarded Pickerington Service Unit volunteers Christina Forsyth, Maria Forsyth and Rhonda VanArsdale the Girl Scout Appreciation Pin.

The Appreciation Pin is given only once to recognize outstanding service to a geographic area or program delivery audience that furthers the council's goals.

Christina Forsyth is the booth coordinator for the Pickerington Service Unit and a troop volunteer. Maria Forsyth coordinates the Fall Product Program and is a troop volunteer. VanArsdale is a troop volunteer and facilitates the communications system for the service unit.
