In keeping with the holiday spirit, Pickerington Community Theatre will present a production of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, which will run at two locations for two weekends starting Friday, Dec. 6, through Dec. 14.
The first weekend of shows will be presented at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Dec. 6 and 7, and at 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 8, in Pickerington Christian Church, 575 Diley Road, Pickerington.
Performances for the second weekend will be at 8 p.m. Dec. 13 and 14 and 2 p.m. Dec. 15 in Rose Hill Church of Christ, 142 Rolen Rd. S.W., Reynoldsburg.
Described by PCT President Chris Gallaugher as "an hilarious Christmas production," the 70-minute show is about a couple that struggles to put on a church Christmas pageant.
The couple's problem, said Gallaugher, is that they "are faced with casting the Herdman kids, probably the most inventively awful kids in history."
Gallaugher said what ensues is mayhem mixed with raucous fun that will keep audiences laughing well after the final curtain.
"This delightful comedy is adapted from the best-selling Young Adult book, and has become a holiday staple for theaters across the United States," Gallaugher said.
He said the show features a cast of 50 adults and children and includes "a few favorite Christmas carols."
For the first time ever, PCT is also making a special exception to its regular ticket pricing policy, said Gallaugher.
"We are asking patrons to bring in a new, unwrapped toy which will be donated to Toys for Tots, or (they) can make a monetary donation of any amount to Pickerington Community Theatre," Gallaugher said.
"This is the first time we have done the ticket exemption," he said.
"This special event is for Pickerington and Reynoldsburg."
All seating for both the Pickerington and Reynoldsburg venues are general admission.
