Mayor Lee Gray has appointed Jerry Dailey to the vacant seat on Pickerington City Council.
Dailey fills the seat vacated by Brian Sauer earlier this year.
Dailey has lived in Pickerington more than 35 years according to information from the city.
He and his wife, Wanda, have two daughters.
Dailey is a retired engineer who did work for the city from 1992-2005. He is also a former member of both the Pickerington Parks Board and the Pickerington Board of Zoning Appeals.
"Jerry is a longtime resident and understands the infrastructure of the City as well as anyone," Gray said in Monday's announcement of the appointment.
"He's retired now and has more time to serve his community. I think he will be a valuable addition to Council," Gray said.
Sauer, was required to vacate his seat on council in June because a residency clause in Pickerington's City Charter mandates all councilmen live in the city.
He moved to Violet Township, thus creating the open seat.
