Pickerington High School North students, as well as dance, costume and production experts from throughout the community will present Cats April 10-13.
After taking part in approximately 75 plays and musicals during the course of his scholastic, college and teaching careers, North Theatre Director Allen DeCarlo said he'd be hard-pressed to find a better show than the one his students are about to present to the community.
"It's a great show," DeCarlo said. "It's the best show I've ever been part of, even in college."
The North Theater Department will present Cats, an Andrew Lloyd Webber musical, at the PHS North Performing Arts Center April 10-13.
Performances are planned for 8 p.m. April 10 and 11, at 2 and 8 p.m. April 12 and at 2 p.m. April 13.
DeCarlo said this year's cast -- which includes approximately 40 North students and five local junior high students -- is primed to take on the challenging musical, as are the roughly 20 students working as production crew members.
The students will be aided by choreographers, Angie Smith and Courtney Boggs, who own Passe Dance Center in Pickerington, and Scott Skiles, a longtime production director.
Additionally, Nancy Doherty, who created costumes for Broadway performances of Cats and other productions, has signed on to hand-make each costume in the North production.
"I may have to quit because there's nowhere to go from here," DeCarlo jokingly said. "This is probably the hardest show we've ever done at North.
"It's all singing. There's no dialogue and there's a lot of dancing."
DeCarlo said tickets for each show were selling fast, but some remained available through reservation by calling 614-830-2750.
Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $8 for students.
Depending on availability, tickets also can be purchased at the PAC door prior to each show.
