Gospel music stars Mark Lowry and The Martins are hitting the road together for the first time on the Music & Madness tour and will make a stop in Lancaster.
Presented by Muse Concerts and sponsored by Feed the Children, Music & Madness will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, June 1 in Faith Memorial Church 2610 West Fair Avenue, in Lancaster. Doors open at 5 p.m.
The history between Lowry and the Martin siblings -- Joyce, Jonathan and Judy -- spans more than two decades and traces back to a cassette tape the Martins gave Lowry at a national quartet convention in 1992, said Mike Kotora, Music and Worship Pastor at Faith Memorial Church.
Lowry and fellow band member Michael English asked Gloria and Bill Gaither to listen to the group and The Martins were on their way, Kotora said.
Lowry is best known for penning the Christmas classic, Mary Did You Know? and for years singing baritone in the Grammy-Award-winning Gaither Vocal Band.
He has been entertaining audiences since age 11 and his career has included a long list of recordings and DVDs reflecting a wide range of influences.
Lowry has often performed with the Gaithers.
The Martins harmonies and rich sound is known for crossing Christian genres, Kotora said.
Music & Madness will also feature the accompaniment of renowned pianist Stan Whitmire.
