Alexis Elese Mahan of Pickerington has been selected as one of 20 students to receive the General Electric Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation Scholarship.
This scholarship program awards students who embody values such as leadership, drive, integrity and citizenship. Each student will receive $10,000 a year, for up to four years, to be applied to student tuition, room and board while pursuing a bachelor's degree at an accredited U.S. college or university.
Nearly 12,000 completed applications were received and reviewed from students across the United States.
Mahan, who will attend Mount Vernon Nazarene University this fall to major in international business and minor in music performance, is founder and president of the philanthropic/service group Chain Reaction and is active with Common Sense Culture Leadership Program as a Level 3 peer leader, mentor and networking director.
