Military notes

* Army Sgt. J.C. Hale was among the hundreds of American service members who commemorated the 70th anniversary of D-Day, the 1944 Normandy invasion that changed the course of World War II and history.

Hale, a member of 412th Civil Affairs Battalion from Columbus, spent about a week in the Normandy region, participating in ceremonies and representing the Americans who fought here 70 years ago.

Hale is the son of Beecher and Shawn Hale of Pickerington, and son-in-law of Steve and Lexanne Dellos of Mansfield. He is a 2006 graduate of Pickerington High School North.

* Air Force Airman 1st Class Seth T. Anspaugh, Air Force Airman 1st Class Brice M. Edstrom and Air Force Airman Daniel V. Musso recently graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio.

The airmen completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Anspaugh is the son of Brad E. and Linda S. Anspaugh of Pickerington. He is a 2009 graduate of Pickerington High School Central. He earned a bachelor's degree in 2013 from Ohio University.

Edstrom is the son of Teddy Edstrom of Dublin and Glenda Edstrom of Prescott, Ariz. He is a 2013 graduate of Pickerington High School Central.

Musso is a 2012 graduate of Pickerington High School Central. He is the son of Rebecca and Joe Musso.
