Five Pickerington North football players sign letters of intent
Five Pickerington High School North seniors signed letters of intent Feb. 1 to play college football, including two-way lineman Pat Elflein with Ohio State.
Also signing were Luke Carothers (OL/DL) with Ohio Dominican, Zach Olszewski (QB) with Ashland, Blake Springhetti (DL) with Mount Union and P.J. Cleary (DL) with Notre Dame College in South Euclid.
Last season, Elflein made first-team all-district and had 12 tackles for losses and 54 total tackles on defense while starting on both sides of the line. He was a starter since his freshman season and verbally committed to play for the Buckeyes last July after also considering Cincinnati, Indiana, Northwestern and Purdue.
Elflein made the ThisWeek Super 25 last season.
Carothers also was a two-way starter and made special mention all-district on offense. Olszewski was 83-for-154 passing for 1,208 yards with 12 touchdowns and rushed for 331 yards and six touchdowns and made honorable mention all-district.
North finished 8-2 last season, placing ninth in Division I, Region 3 as the top eight teams qualified for the playoffs.
