Seeds set for state dual tournament

The Pickerington High School Central wrestling team earned the second seed in Region 6-B and North is seeded fifth in the same region in the inaugural Division I state dual-meet tournament that begins Wednesday, Jan. 23.

The Tigers will compete against seventh-seeded Watkins Memorial in the first round, with the winner facing third-seeded Teays Valley or sixth-seeded Gahanna in the second round Jan. 30. The first-round site was to be announced Jan. 15.

The Panthers will open against fourth-seeded and OCC-Ohio Division-rival Lancaster at Pleasant Street Elementary in Mount Vernon, with the winner facing top-seeded Mount Vernon or eighth-seeded Reynoldsburg in the second round Jan. 30.

Central and North would not meet until a regional semifinal, which would take place Jan. 30 at the same site as the second-round matchups.

The Tigers and Panthers both won two league matches Jan. 10 to improve in 3-0 in the OCC-Ohio. Central defeated Lancaster 48-19 and Newark 80-0 at Grove City and North beat Reynoldsburg 50-27 and host Groveport 65-9.
