Winners for the second-seeded Tigers were sophomore Devon Johnson (106 pounds), who defeated Watkins' Dean Marek 8-3; sophomore Ryan McElwee (113), who pinned Elliott Holter in 1 minute, 26 seconds; junior Jordan Pieczynski (145), who defeated J.J. Kent 19-2; junior Aaron Yarger (152), who won by pin in 1:49; senior A.J. Bondurant (160), who pinned Adam Tompkins in 3:31; senior Ason Sunkle (170), who pinned Jared Corum in 1:35; and junior Dillon McDowell (182), who defeated Jack May 16-0.
Freshman JoJo Terry (126), junior Jordan Maynard (195) and sophomore Aaron Morefield (heavyweight) won by forfeit.
The Tigers advanced to face sixth-seeded Gahanna in a second-round Region 6-B match Jan. 30.
The winner faced top-seeded Mount Vernon or fifth-seeded Pickerington North in a regional semifinal 20 minutes after the end of second-round action, with the winner advancing to a regional final Wednesday, Feb. 6, at a site to be announced.
North advanced to the second round when fourth-seeded Lancaster withdrew from the tournament. The Panthers defeated the Golden Gales 48-29 in an OCC-Ohio match Jan. 17.
