Pickerington Central hires new coach

Molly Cornwell recently was hired as Pickerington High School Central’s new girls soccer coach.

The former Pickerington North star was approved by the Pickerington Local Schools Board of Education at its March 10 meeting.

Cornwell replaces Jillian Walters, who resigned shortly after this past season for personal reasons. Walters was 20-13-2 in two seasons.

Cornwell, a 2006 North graduate, was a two-time first-team all-state player for the Panthers and two-time Mid-American Conference Player of the Year at Toledo.

Cornwell coached at North in 2011, guiding the Panthers to records of 12-3-2 overall and 5-2 in the OCC-Ohio Division, tied for second with Central behind champion Gahanna (7-0).
