Organizer Jenelle Krumlauf said she expects the second annual Project Runway Friday at the Hilton at Easton will be better than last year's event.

The Reynoldsburg High School senior organized the fashion show fundraiser to raise money for the oncology center at Nationwide Children's Hospital.

She said last year's show drew 350 people and raised a little over $3,000.

Her goal this year is to raise $10,000.

Project Runway is scheduled to run from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Aug. 1, at the Hilton Hotel at Easton, 3900 Chagrin Drive. Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased at the door or by e-mailing Krumlauf at jakrum90@aol.com.

Krumlauf said she established Project Runway because she wanted to help others and because cancer has affected her family.

"When I first said I was going to do it, some people thought I was crazy, but I felt so strong about it and I'm glad I did it," Krumlauf said.

"My grandmother (Goldie Sheridan) died of cancer when I was 8 years old," she said. "I love fashion and love helping people, so I did it because I wanted to put something together to help other people who have cancer and act as a voice for the kids who really need it the most."

Krumlauf said 45 models ranging in age from 8 to 221 are lined up for this year's show. One requirement to enter the event is that each model must have had their own experiences with cancer or know someone who has had the disease.

Before the show begins, a brief video presentation will be given about each of the models.

The Project Runway show is completely not for profit and paid for only by donations, sponsors and ticket sales.

In addition, Krumlauf said a silent auction will be held for items such as gift cards or gift baskets donated by local businesses.

"The silent auction is where we made most of our money from last year. All of the money raised really helps kids with cancer," she said.
