The Christine Wilson Memorial 5K will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 27, at Avery Road Park, 7401 Avery Road, in Dublin.

Now in its seventh year, the 5K was established in honor of Wilson, who died in a fire near Ohio State University on April 13, 2003.

Registration will begin at 4:15 p.m. The registration fee is $33. Participants may register online at www.christinewilsonfoundation.org.

Race packets may be picked up in advance at the Columbus Running Company Store at Perimeter Loop in Dublin until 2 p.m. on race day.

All proceeds and additional contributions from the event will go toward two annual scholarships to Bishop Watterson High School. Wilson's foundation will also continue to support other community endeavors involving children, including the Center for Child and Family Advocacy at Nationwide Children's Hospital.

Dancing with a Cause

Strategies for You LLC and Mix & Mingle for a Cause Club will present "Dancing with a Cause" from 5:30-11 p.m. Friday, June 26, at the Hyatt on Capitol Square, 75 E. State St.

The event will benefit Mid-Ohio Food Bank (Operation Feed) and the American Widow Project.

Guests will enjoy hors d'oeuvres, a photographer, Kids of Broadway, a silent auction of celebrity memorabilia, live entertainment, a lip sync contest, door prizes and a cash bar.

The cost for the event is $35 at the door, or $25 online at www.meetup.com/mixmingleforacause. Valet parking or City Center parking is recommended.

Athletes compete in games

Several athletes will represent Reynoldsburg schools in the Special Olympics at the 2009 Ohio State Summer Games.

Team members are Jacob Gibson, Sara Grutsch, Derek Kirksey, Alex Leichliter, Carl Lewis, Christopher Trumbull, Justin Trumbull and Austin Van Almsick.

These athletes will compete in the 40th annual Summer Games scheduled for June 26-28 at The Ohio State University. They will join nearly 2,500 competitors from across the state.
