Tyrone Olverson will leave his job as principal of Waggoner Junior High School July 31 to become principal of Licking Heights High School.

His resignation was approved during the Reynoldsburg Board of Education's July 21 meeting.

Superintendent Steve Dackin said WRJH assistant principal Kasey Rathburn will manage the building and schedules until Olverson's successor is hired.

Dackin said he was aware Olverson had been looking for other career opportunities so his resignation was not really a surprise.

"Tyrone is always looking for career opportunities for himself and I think he saw this as a good opportunity for goals he has on down the road, so I wish him well," Dackin said.

He said ultimately, it would be nice to secure a candidate for the position and have them approved and hired by the next board meeting on Aug. 17.

The Licking Heights Board of Education approved hiring Olverson during a special meeting on July 9.

"We had over 50 candidates for the job and given Tyrone's emphasis and proven experience with instructional leadership, he'll be a good fit," Superintendent Thomas Tucker said.
