Song and Story Campfire, 8 p.m. Friday at the Ash Grove Picnic Area. Enjoy silly animal songs and tall tales.

Mad Nature Scientists, 2-4 p.m. Saturday at the Nature Center parking lot. Learn why the water strider does not sink, how clouds form and the answers to other natural science stuff by doing and seeing simple experiments.

Blendon Woods Metro Park

4265 State Route 161 E., Westerville

Nature Station Fun, 1-3 p.m. Saturday at the Nature Station. View walk-through displays of natural history objects and play nature games.

Ramble Around the Lake, 2 p.m. Sunday at the Nature Center. Hike a mile-and-a-half off-trail and look for the earliest waterfowl migrators.

Preschoolers: Busy as Beavers, 10 a.m. or 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Nature Center. Touch a beaver pelt and examine and beaver skull while learning why beavers chop down trees and dam rivers.

Morning Bike Ride, 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Glacier Knoll Picnic Area. Take a 10-mile ride along the Blacklick Creek Greenway Trail.

Dazzling Dragonflies, 2 p.m. Sunday at the Glacier Knoll Picnic Area. Catch and release dragonflies and damselflies and learn more about them on a one-mile walk.

Preschoolers: Creepy Crawlies, 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Glacier Knoll Picnic Area. Learn about insects, spiders and other tiny creatures.

Slate Run Metro Park

Canal Winchester

Water, Water Everywhere, 11 a.m. Saturday at Slate Run Wetlands. Take a 1.5-mile walk around the wetlands to look for wood ducks, bullfrogs and other animals that need the water to survive the hot summer.

Spider Search, 2-4 p.m. Saturday at the Buzzard's Roost Picnic Area. Look for spiders in the fields and make a web pin craft to take home.

Butterfly Hike, 2 p.m. Sunday at Buzzard's Roost Picnic Area. Use nets to catch butterflies and learn how to identify them on a short walk.

Alphabet Walk, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday. Explore the farm while learning 26 facts about tools, animals and life in the 1880s.

Riddle Me These, Please!, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. daily starting Tuesday, Aug. 3. Pick up a list of riddles and the farmhouse that will have you thinking your way around the farm.
