The Reynoldsburg Area Chamber of Commerce's annual silent auction fundraiser and dinner was a success, according to auction chair Mary Hudson.

Held Nov. 18 at the Reynoldsburg Fraternal Order of Eagles on Brice Road, this year's event drew a little over 130 people.

The purpose of the event is to raise money to keep the RACC's operations going, as well as a fun way for people to have a meal together and purchase gifts for the holidays.

Hudson said a variety of items were auctioned off, including an encounter with a live llama, a flat-screen TV, a weekend stay at the Fairfield Inn Suites, Honey Baked hams, dinner packages, specially made baskets and a large outdoor grill.

Organizers had not calculated by ThisWeek's press deadline how much was raised, but Hudson said she was sure they did better than they have in the last few years.

"We were really excited, and even with the economy the way it is, I think we had more auction items sold that we've had in a long time," Hudson said.

"The community just really came out to support us. It was fantastic," she said.
