Tony Burroughs will be the guest speaker at the Franklin County Genealogical and Historical Society's African American Interest Groups Fall Conference.

The conference will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at Columbus Metropolitan Library, 96 S. Grant Ave. The cost of $40 includes a box lunch.

Court Appointed Special Advocates of Franklin County (CASA-FC) will host its 11th annual "Speak Up for Children" breakfast from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7.

This year's event will be held at the Hyatt Regency Ballroom, 350 N. High St.

The one-hour breakfast will serve as an introduction to CASA-FC.

Guests will hear a variety of speakers and volunteers, as well as keynote speaker Deborah Pryce, a former congresswoman and an adoptive mother.

While the event is free, participants will be asked to consider making a commitment to CASA, either by making a pledge or donation, or by becoming a volunteer.

New Directions Career Center will present "Divorce Planning 101" from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, at 199 E. Rich St.
