The Truro Township Fire Department is still seeking donations of toys and money for its annual Reynoldsburg Toys for Kids toy drive.
Firefighters said they hope residents will donate new toys, gift certificates or money donations to buy gifts for needy children.
Organizer Mary Burcham said the Reynoldsburg event is separate from the Columbus Fire Department's Toys for Tots drive. The Reynoldsburg Toys for Kids drive is for children of all ages who reside in the city or attend Reynoldsburg schools.
She said last year's donations were down 30 percent from the previous year.
"Times are hard and more and more families are in need every year," Burcham said.
Cash and check donations will be used to purchase gift cards for older children who have "grown out of the toy stage," she added.
She said checks should be made payable to Reynoldsburg Toys for Kids and sent to Reynoldsburg fire stations at either 6900 E. Main St. or 6305 E. Livingston Ave., Reynoldsburg, Ohio 43068.
New toys may also be dropped off at either fire station.
Burcham said applications for assistance, along with eligibility criteria were available beginning Nov. 26 at both fire stations. Applications will be collected between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 14.
