Monday May 20, 2013 11:12 AM

American Legion Reynoldsburg Post 798 is planning a Memorial Day ceremony for 5 p.m. May 24, at the Silent Home Cemetery, 1576 Lancaster Ave.

The ceremony will include the retiring of the old colors on the flagpole and raising of the new flag. Also, a new veterans' memorial will be dedicated at the flag pole. This permanent memorial is provided by the American Legion Post and the Truro Township trustees in honor of the veterans resting at Silent Home.

After the ceremony, Boy Scout Troop 777 and Reynoldsburg post officers and members will place American flags next to all veterans' headstones. Any volunteers are welcome to assist.

Post members also will hold a poppy sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 24, in the Kroger parking lot on East Main Street next to Aaron's Furniture rental. All funds generated by this sale are used by the post to support Reynoldsburg veterans and their families, along with community activities.
