City plans to flush hydrants

The Reynoldsburg Water Department will flush fire hydrants in September and early October.

Water department spokeswoman Linda Grinstead said the rust-colored water caused by the hydrant flushing does not pose a health hazard, but residents are urged to check their water before doing laundry, since the rust-colored water can stain clothes.

On the city website, at, under the water/wastewater link, there are directions to deal with rusty water, including instructions on how to prevent iron stains on clothes.

Hydrants will be flushed Sept. 23-27 on Lancaster Avenue and west of Lancaster Avenue and on state Route 256 and areas west.

Hydrants east of Lancaster Avenue and state Route 256 will be flushed Sept. 30 through Oct. 4.
