The Reynoldsburg Parks and Recreation Department is teaming up with Kiddie Academy of Reynoldsburg to host the city's first community conversation about mental health.
The meeting, a collaboration with the National Alliance on Mental Illness of Franklin County (NAMI), will take place from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, at Kiddie Academy, 6411 E. Main St.
Academy co-owner Carol Haynes said the community conversations work toward solutions to improve mental health and mental health care systems.
She said the goal is to talk about mental health in a safe and welcoming environment and to recommend priority strategies and actions to improve the lives of those living with mental health issues -- especially among returning war veterans, youth and young adults.
Haynes said the Oct. 23 meeting is a part of a national effort to help communities move beyond stereotypes and stigmas and toward solutions.
