The Reynoldsburg Board of Education has approved $60,224 in performance awards for a number of administrators and administrative support staff.
There was no public discussion about the bonuses prior to the vote at the board’s Oct. 16 meeting.
Tricia Moore, director of shared services and partnerships, said the one-time bonuses or merit raises went to principals, assistant principals, some psychologists and administrative support staff.
“They were largely due to the academic performance of each building on the state report card,” she said. “The administrators could earn anywhere from zero to 4 percent on their base salaries in merit raises or bonuses and the support staff from zero to 3 percent.
“The amount given was equivalent to an across-the-board raise of 2.3 percent,” she said.
Moore said the performance awards were recommended for non-bargaining unit employees, including school principals, central office staff, school psychologists and staff members employed through the Educational Services Center of Central Ohio.
She said decisions on whether to add the awards to individuals’ base salaries or to pay them as a one-time bonus were made considering whether the employees’ current salary is above or below market value for similar positions.
