9/11 remembrance ceremony planned in Reynoldsburg

By

A 9/11 remembrance ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, at the mural outside Cotner Funeral Home, 7369 E. Main St.

April Oates, from Cotner, said Pastor Marty Dennis from Reynoldsburg Church of the Nazarene will lead an opening prayer at 10 a.m.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., volunteers from Reynoldsburg United Methodist Church, Real Church, Simple Church, VFW Post 9473 and Cotner will be passing out flags to passersby on East Main Street, at local businesses and to drivers stopped at traffic lights.

“We think it is important to remember Sept. 11 and we want to also honor our troops,” Oates said. “We will be holding signs that say, ‘Remember Sept. 11.’”

A concluding ceremony at 4 p.m. will include a gun salute by members of the VFW, the singing of the National Anthem and a closing prayer by Pastor Aaron DeLong, from the Simple Church.

Those interested in volunteering to help with the observance or who want more information should call Oates at 614-325-2473.
