Another high school football season is under way and Week 1 is in the books. Here is a look the Week 2 matchup for Reynoldsburg:

REYNOLDSBURG (1-0) AT FINDLAY (1-0)

Reynoldsburg football coach Buddy White couldn't have asked for much more in his varsity debut.

The Raiders defeated Dublin Jerome 31-14 on Aug. 26 with a balanced offensive attack and a defense that appeared to tire the Celtics in the second half.

Now, the task is to keep it up.

Coming off an opening win for the first time in a decade, Reynoldsburg visits Findlay on Friday, Sept. 2.

The Trojans routed undermanned Cleveland East Tech 56-12 in their opener.

Reynoldsburg hasn't been 1-0 - or 2-0 - since 2001, a season that culminated in the Raiders' only playoff appearance.

They then lost six consecutive openers to Pickerington, now Pickerington Central, and three to Jerome before this season.

Findlay hasn't been 2-0 since 1994.

Against Jerome, Mykel Bennett caught three passes for 129 yards and two touchdowns for the Raiders, who scored the final 17 points.

"They (opposing defenses) have to stop playing (Bennett) man-to-man and I know that's eventually going to happen because he is very good," said White, whose team's home opener is Sept. 9 against Logan.

Vance Settlemire, Devin Dennard and Jon Runion scored two touchdowns each for Findlay against East Tech. The Trojans, who used four quarterbacks, rushed for 243 yards and attempted just four passes.

"We have a couple of quarterbacks who can run the ball and some receivers and running backs who can, too," coach Mark Ritzler told The (Findlay) Courier. "We're still a work in progress. We told the kids there are things we can get better at, but we played everybody, nobody got hurt and we're 1-0 with a chance to go 2-0. At least we're going in the right direction."

After this game, one team still will be.
