Reynoldsburg girls track standouts heading to Division I colleges
Reynoldsburg High School senior track and field standouts Destinee Gause and Faith Washington, who helped the Raiders win the Division I state championship the past three seasons, will continue their careers at the college level.
Gause signed with the University of Florida on Feb. 10 and Washington is expected to wign with Vanderbilt University on Feb. 17.
Gause has won the state title in the 200 meters the past three seasons. In addition to winning the 200 (23.84 seconds) last June, she also won the 100 (11.82) and anchored the 1,600 relay (3:48.78) to a title.
As a sophomore, she ran on the 400 relay (47.24) and 1,600 relay (3:48.87) that both won state titles in addition to winning the 200 (24.07).
In 2009, the Raiders scored a Division I state-record 82 points. Gause won the 200 (24.21) and ran on the first-place 1,600 relay (3:43.83) and champion 800 relay (1:37.02). She also helped the 400 relay take second (46.78).
Last June, Washington was third in the 300 hurdles (43.58) and fourth in the 100 hurdles (14.52) and ran on the third-place 800 relay (1:39.63) and 1,600 relay.
As a sophomore, she ran on the state runner-up 800 relay (1:40.4) and was second in the 300 hurdles (43.28) and fourth in the 100 hurdles (14.7). As a freshman, she took fourth in the 300 hurdles (43.38) and ran on the 800 and 1,600 relays.
