The Olentangy High School wrestling team won the Division II district tournament, held last Friday and Saturday at Claymont Uhrichsville, scoring 135.5 points to edge runner-up Lisbon Beaver (119.5) for the title.

Six Braves placed in the top four of their weight classes to qualify to the state tournament, to be held Thursday through Saturday at Ohio State.

Trevor Fiorucci (103 pounds) went 4-0 to place first, Joe Grandominico (145) went 3-1 to finish second, Caleb Hetterscheidt (152) went 5-1 to place third, Anthony McHugh (112) went 4-1 to place third, Al Caserta (125) went 4-1 to place third and Britt Yant (140) went 4-2 to place fourth.

Anthony Fosco (130) also went 3-2 to place fifth and become a state alternate.

"This championship is a total team effort," coach Matt Hammons said. "We had seven district placers and we wouldn't have won this tournament if it weren't for each one of those kids."

Licking Heights scored 66 points to finish seventh of 45 teams and qualify three athletes to state. Josiah Dunlap (125) went 3-1 to place second, and Tyler Price (103) and Eric Wolfe (135) each went 4-1 to place third.

Licking Valley scored 58.5 points to finish ninth, as Chase Redman (215) went 4-0 to place first and Jordan Harble (145) went 3-2 to place fourth.

Lakewood scored 55 points to finish 11th and qualify three athletes to state. Alex Strayer (140) went 5-1 to place third, and Cory Hosom (160) and Delane King (171) each went 4-2 to place third.

Hartley scored 52.5 points to finish 13th and had three wrestlers place fourth to qualify to state. Evan Jackson (215) went 4-2, and Chris Fusco (130) and Jarrod Zang (160) each went 3-2.

Canal Winchester scored 51 points to finish 14th. Conrad Rosch went 4-0 to place first and Brady Hutchins (119) went 3-1 to place second to lead the Indians.

DeSales scored 43.5 points to finish 18th. Two Stallions qualified to state in Malcolm Burrell (189) who went 3-1 to place second and Payton Gutierrez (103) who went 3-2 to finish fourth.

Big Walnut and Hilliard Bradley each scored 39 points to tie for 20th.

Andrew Higgins (135) went 4-0 to place first for Bradley, and Matt Brown (215) went 5-1 to place third for Big Walnut.

Granville scored 23 points to finish 26th, but didn't qualify anyone to state.

Watterson and Hamilton Township each scored 17 points to tie for 29th. Chris Settles (heavyweight) went 3-2 to place fourth for Hamilton Township.

Whitehall scored 14 points to finish 31st, as Travers Clark (171) went 3-2 to place fourth.

Bexley scored nine points to finish 34th, Columbus East had four points to finish 37th, Independence and

Centennial each scored two points to tie for 39th and Mifflin scored one point to finish 43rd.
