Freshman Will Thieman, an Upper Arlington graduate, helped the Ohio Wesleyan men's tennis team defeat Capital 7-2 on March 18. At the third-singles spot Thieman defeated David Albert 6-1, 7-5. He teamed -with Scott Hellberg at second doubles to beat Albert and Doug Gugel-Bryant 8-5.

Senior Matt Groezinger, an Upper Arlington graduate, helped the Wooster baseball team sweep Kenyon 13-7 and 25-8 on March 18. In the first game Groezinger, a first baseman, went 2-for-3 with three RBI. In the second he was 2-for-4 with four RBI and two runs.

Trinity sophomore Alex Miranda, an Upper Arlington graduate, was the men's swimmer of the meet at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference championships Feb. 17-20.

At the meet, Miranda set conference and championship meet records in the 400-yard individual medley (4 minutes, 2.71 seconds), the 500 freestyle (4:34.04) and the 200 butterfly (1:53.72).

Upper Arlington High School boys water polo coach Jim Roberts was one of 20 recipients nationally, and the only one from Ohio, of the Positive Coaching Alliance's Double-Goal Coach Award.

The award is given for coaches who prioritize winning and teaching life lessons through sports.

Roberts, a Worthington resident, led Upper Arlington to a 25-6 record and a state championship last season.
