Upper Arlington boys athletics director Michael Schaefer confirmed today that Jeff Stewart resigned as the boys swim coach.

Upper Arlington boys athletics director Michael Schaefer confirmed today that Jeff Stewart resigned as the boys swim coach.

The resignation was effective last Friday. Stewart has taken another coaching position nearer to his family Schaefer said.

Stewart coached the Bears for two seasons, leading them to a top-four finish at the Division I state meet both seasons. Last year, the Bears scored 187 points and finished third, behind state champion Cincinnati St. Xavier (228).

Stewart took over in 2008 after former coach Kevin Chapman pleaded guilty to one count each of sexual battery and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.

Swimming and diving season begins Nov. 6.
