The Hilliard Bradley High School football team improved to 2-0 with a 46-0 win over visiting Teays Valley on Friday, Sept. 2.
"It feels great," said Jaguars coach Mike LoParo, whose team opened with a 39-10 win over Dublin Scioto on Aug. 26. "We still have a ton of work to do. Our kids are getting better every day. They come to practice ready to work and it's starting to come together for us."
The shutout was the first in program history. Bradley's defense has not allowed any points the last seven quarters.
"My defensive coordinator (Michael Freado) is outstanding," LoParo said. "I'm really proud of him and what our defensive staff does."
Defensive stalwarts for Bradley included linemen Tony Harvard, Mickey Bevins, Tevin Anderson, Parris Crockett, Ricky McGrath, C.J. Wall and David Alaniz. Their performance helped limit Teays Valley to 69 total yards (42 rushing, 27 passing).
Jaguars defensive back Blake Scipio had a pair of interceptions and defensive back Terell Stanford had one.
Bradley's rushing attack was as equally impressive as its defense, as the Jaguars finished with 415 total yards (418 rushing, minus-3 passing).
Leading the running attack was Scipio with 115 yards. Stanford added 100 yards rushing and Chad Reep ran for 68 yards. The trio combined for five touchdowns.
The Jaguars are 2-0 for the first time in the program's three-year history. They finished 2-8 in their inaugural season in 2009 and went 3-7 last year.
"It's a long way to go," Scipio said. "We strive to improve every day."
Teays Valley dropped to 1-1.
