Bo Hardy rushed for 261 yards and a touchdown on 27 carries for the Ready High School football team, but it wasn’t nearly enough for the Silver Knights, who lost to Nelsonville-York 47-13 on Friday, Sept. 16, at Franklin Heights.
Ready led 13-12 after the first quarter, but Nelsonville-York scored 35 unanswered points to pull away from the Silver Knights and improve to 4-0.
Ready dropped to 2-2.
“We are a senior-dominated team, and our seniors believe, and they pulled us out of it,” Buckeyes coach David Boston said.
Led by quarterback Tyler Dean, Nelsonville-York displayed a balanced offense. Dean was 14-of-20 for 231 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions.
Another key contributor for the Buckeyes was running back Dustin Young, who rushed for 123 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries.
“We are just going to do what we do well, and we aren’t going to change for anybody,” Boston said. “If you can stop us, then you can stop us.”
Trailing 6-0, Ready scored on a 4-yard pass from quarterback Matt Yoho to slotback Kelly Culbertson to take a 7-6 lead in the first quarter.
Later in the quarter with the Silver Knights trailing 12-7, Hardy scored on a 67-yard run to put Ready ahead 13-12.
The Buckeyes scored two touchdowns in the second quarter to lead 26-13 at halftime and scored two touchdowns in the third quarter to extend their lead to 40-13.
