The Grandview Heights High School football team moved one victory from its first undefeated season since 1955 with a 40-21 win over host Harvest Prep on Friday, Oct. 21.
The Bobcats will close the regular season Friday, Oct. 28, as host to Liberty Union. Both teams are 6-0 in the MSL-Cardinal Division. The Bobcats are 9-0 overall, and the Lions are 8-1 overall after defeating West Jefferson 40-9 on Friday, Oct 21.
Oliver Rouch rushed for two touchdowns and threw for two more as the Bobcats broke a 14-all halftime tie.
Rouch’s first score, an 8-yard run, tied the game at 7 after the first quarter. His 73-yard pass to Tyler Mosier gave Grandview a 14-7 lead. The Warriors tied the game at 14 as Zach Yousey scored on his second long run. He opened the scoring with a 50-yarder and closed the first half with a 69-yard scoring run.
Yousey also caught an 8-yard scoring pass from Matt Martello, but those were the Warriors’ only points in the second half, which cut the deficit to 27-21 in the fourth quarter.
Rouch threw a 5-yard pass to Jake Smith to give the Bobcats the lead for good at 21-14 and Jason Franks scored from 5 yards to push the margin to 27-14.
Following Yousey’s final score, Rouch (3 yards) and Franks (32 yards) had rushing touchdowns to close the scoring.
Franks finished with 140 yards on 21 carries, and Payton Jones added 92 yards on eight attempts.
Rouch completed five of nine passes for 100 yards as the Bobcats had 460 yards of offense.
Yousey led Harvest Prep with 133 yards on six carries and had seven receptions for 44 yards. Martello completed 17 of 33 passes for 118 yards and had three interceptions. The Warriors had 316 yards of offense.
