The Eastmoor Academy boys basketball team’s surprising postseason run ended March 15 with a 52-35 loss to No. 1-ranked Dayton Dunbar in a Division II regional semifinal at Kettering Fairmont.
The Warriors, who were seeded seventh for the district tournament and upset top-seeded Jonathan Alder 44-35 in a district final March 9, scored just two second-quarter points and trailed 20-7 at halftime.
Dunbar’s impressive defense continued into the third period, when it outscored Eastmoor 20-10.
The Wolverines improved to 25-0 and will play Cincinnati Taft for a regional title Saturday, March 17, at Fairmont.
Gary Akbar and A.J. Harris each scored 10 points and Deontae Hawkins added eight for Dunbar.
Bryan Booker and John Draper each scored nine points for the Warriors, who were making their first regional appearance since 2008.
Eastmoor finished 17-8.
