First-year Marysville coach Morgan Cotter said developing the skill positions would be his top challenge this season.

While the Monarchs have depth and experience up front, they have struggled to produce.

Hites, a senior, has rushed for 278 yards. His counterpart, DeMars, has thrown for 599 yards.

The senior is leading an offense that is averaging 31 points per game.

The series between the schools, which the Irish leads 13-4, dates to 1995. Scioto has lost only twice since 2001.

•LAST WEEK — Hites rushed 20 times for 133 yards and a touchdown against Jonathan Alder.

DeMars completed 32 of 48 passes for 315 yards against Coffman, but he was intercepted three times.
