DeSales and Chillicothe both had flaws exposed during their first four games. The Stallions gave up a kickoff return and punt return for touchdowns in their loss to New Albany on Sept. 7 and the Cavaliers allowed a fumble return for a touchdown in their loss to Hamilton Township on Aug. 24 and committed two turnovers that led to scores in their loss to Big Walnut on Aug. 31.

Chillicothe is coached by Ron Hinton, who led Amanda-Clearcreek to a 250-82-3 record in 29 seasons before stepping down from his alma mater after the 2009 season. The Cavaliers went 4-6 in 2010 in Hinton's first season and finished 3-7 a year ago after starting 0-5.

Chillicothe's last winning season came in 2008 when it went 8-4 and reached a Division III, Region 12 semifinal. The Cavaliers made the Division II, Region 7 playoffs in 2006, losing to Watterson 18-7 in a first-round game.

Against New Albany, DeSales had 317 total yards and trailed 21-7 at halftime before giving up 35 points in the second half.

DeSales had 17 first downs compared to seven for Ryle and had 295 total yards compared to 227 for the Raiders, but the Stallions lost four fumbles.

Alex Perrine rushed 26 times for 82 yards, Blubaugh ran for 58 yards on nine carries and running back Tyler West scored the Stallions' only touchdown on a 1-yard, third-quarter run.
