Seth Hill returned a fumble 77 yards for a touchdown and a kickoff 91 yards for a score as the Worthington Kilbourne High School football team defeated visiting Hilliard Bradley 34-14 on Oct. 5 in an OCC-Cardinal Division game.

Bradley (3-4 overall, 0-4 OCC-Cardinal) had driven 36 yards on 10 plays late in the third quarter, but quarterback Tommy Horn was hit by Kilbourne defensive lineman Jay Kennedy and fumbled at the Wolves’ 23-yard line. Hill picked up the ball and raced untouched to the end zone for a 24-14 lead with 21 seconds left in the third.

“Jay made a great play on the defensive line to knock the ball loose and I was there to pick it up,” said Hill, who also had 60 yards rushing on two carries. “I knew I had one man to beat and I was able to pull away from him.”

Hill also used that burst of speed to pull away from Bradley on a 91-yard kickoff return with 6:57 left until halftime. Jon Watson added a 28-yard field goal with 2:13 left in the second quarter for a 17-7 halftime lead for the Wolves (2-5, 1-3).

“Talk about a highlight-film type of game,” Kilbourne coach Vince Trombetti said. “That’s what Seth had tonight.

“But our special teams were also outstanding. The kids did a great job all the way around tonight.”

After Bradley fumbled at its 19, Kilbourne’s Keaton Reinhart scored on a 1-yard run with 1:54 left in the first quarter. Matt Bryant had an 11-yard touchdown run for the Jaguars to tie the game at 7 with 7:04 left in the half.

Hill then returned the ensuing kickoff for a score.

Matt Wylly intercepted Horn on the first play of the fourth quarter at the Wolves’ 23. That set up a 14-yard touchdown run by Kennedy with 6:59 to play.

Watson added a 39-yard field goal with 1:21 to play.

“The turnovers killed us and (Kilbourne) took advantage of every one of them,” Bradley coach Mike LoParo said. “We’ll find out what we’re made of over the next couple of weeks.”

Horn led Bradley in rushing with 116 yards on 23 attempts. Bryant added 52 yards on seven carries.

Isaac Lumpkin led the Wolves with 72 yards rushing on 13 carries, and Wylly added 60 yards on 13 attempts.
