Dublin Coffman 36, Olentangy Liberty 28

Shamrocks turn back Patriots to remain unbeaten

Bilal Williamson scored three touchdowns and defensive lineman Miles McCollum had his fourth sack of the game in the final 30 seconds to secure the Dublin Coffman High School football team’s 36-28 victory over host Olentangy Liberty on Oct. 19.

On a fourth-and-9 play from the Coffman 19-yard line, McCollum ran down Liberty quarterback Joey Longhino for a 12-yard loss to help the Shamrocks improve to 9-0 overall and 6-0 in the OCC-Central Division.

“We were able to get pressure on (Longhino) and he started scrambling,” McCollum said. “I was able to run him down, but it really had more to do with my teammates on the other side of the line getting him out there. I was just there for the tackle.”

“We were going to use the play-action to get someone open, but they came with the pressure,” said Liberty coach Steve Hale, whose team dropped to 6-3 overall and 4-2 in the OCC-Central. “They came with the pressure a lot tonight.”

Williamson rushed for 169 yards on 26 carries and caught two passes for 64 yards. His third touchdown, the game’s final score, was a 9-yard run with 5:30 to play.

“We won and we’re 9-0,” Coffman coach Mark Crabtree said. “It was an ugly win, but we can go out and clean up the mistakes and go on from here.”

Coffman led 24-7 at halftime on touchdown runs of 1 and 66 yards from Williamson and a 15-yard touchdown pass from James Walsh to Zac Fouche.

In the second quarter, the Patriots had two drives stopped in the red zone. Coffman’s Vinny Jones intercepted Longhino at the 15-yard line and McCollum sacked Longhino for a 14-yard loss on a fourth-down play from the 20.

Walsh was 8-for-14 passing for 163 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions. Fouche caught three passes for 57 yards. Daniel Chang ran for 60 yards and a 3-yard touchdown on 13 carries.

Liberty running back Daryian Davies rushed for 158 yards on 38 carries.

Longhino was 24-for-39 passing for 280 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. Matt Muntean had eight catches for 137 yards and Carter Rudek had six receptions for 56 yards and one touchdown.

Dan Rhinehart had eight catches for 65 yards and one touchdown for Liberty, and Bryson Wray caught two passes for 11 yards and a score.
