Eagles defeat Cardinals to capture CCL-Silver title

Fullback DeAndre Golden capped a 90-yard drive with a 7-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter, and the Watterson High School football team defeated host St. Charles 21-17 on Oct. 19 to capture the CCL-Silver Division title.
Andy Elberson and Walter Green totaled 199 rushing yards, each scored a touchdown and provided key runs in the fourth quarter for the Eagles (6-3, 2-0).
St. Charles’ Sean Fitzmartin gained 204 yards on 21 carries, and Jonathan Radney ran for 128 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the first half.
John Colosimo made a 28-yard field goal to start the fourth quarter to give the Cardinals (5-4, 0-2) a 17-14 lead.
Watterson’s ensuing drive was highlighted by Green’s 20-yard run to the Eagles’ 30 and a 25-yard run by Elberson to St. Charles’ 17 before Golden’s touchdown with 6:45 remaining.
