With the holiday break looming, Westerville North has more than established itself as the area’s best team with its early season play.
The rest of central Ohio has been much less predictable.
Northland, despite having an almost entirely new lineup, continues to impress. It’s 58-42 win over Pickerington Central on Dec. 8 was one among a string of double-digit victories.
Reynoldsburg also has a victory over Pickerington Central (53-52 on Dec. 14), and it got by Gahanna 40-38 on Dec. 18.
Gahanna was No. 2 in the second Super 7 poll but did not have Javon Bess or Manny Powell for the game against Reynoldsburg because of an unspecified disciplinary situation. With their status for the near future unknown, it will be interesting to see how the Lions respond.
The newest addition to the Super 7 is Olentangy Liberty, which lost a strong senior class a year ago but doesn’t appear to be taking a step back.
