Top teams survive tough tests

Westerville North and Northland each survived big tests last week to remain undefeated.

The Warriors beat OCC-Cardinal Division-rival Westerville South 69-64 on Jan. 11 and the Vikings edged Brookhaven 63-61 in overtime Jan. 8. North’s only game this week is Jan. 18 at Hilliard Darby while Northland will play Jan. 15 at Mifflin and Jan. 18 at home against Whetstone.

Reynoldsburg bounced back from its only loss, a 43-41 decision against non-league Zanesville on Jan. 5 after traveling to Lancaster the night before, by winning its next three. The Raiders must face visiting Grove City on Jan. 18 and then travel Jan. 19 to Dublin Coffman.

The Shamrocks lost to Olentangy Liberty 60-51 on Jan. 8 and flip-flops in the Super 7 with Dublin Scioto, which continued an impressive start by blowing past Hilliard Bradley 73-51 on Jan. 8 and Worthington Kilbourne 60-42 on Jan. 11.

Other coming key matchups, all slated for Jan. 18, include Africentric against visiting Columbus South, Watterson at Worthington Christian, Olentangy Orange at New Albany, Upper Arlington at Thomas Worthington and Newark Catholic at Columbus Academy.
