Teams jockeying for district seeds
The district tournament is just around the corner, which means jockeying for seeds will be on the minds of the area’s top boys basketball teams throughout the next two weeks.
That trend will go into full swing Jan. 25 when Westerville North plays host to Dublin Scioto in a key OCC-Cardinal Division game.
North is 12-0 and has been first in the ThisWeek Super 7 all season. Scioto is 12-1 as it prepares to face Marysville on Jan. 22.
On Dec. 14, North handed Scioto its only loss, 58-43.
Northland and Reynoldsburg have had solid seasons and follow North in the poll.
Olentangy Liberty continues to surprise a year after a strong 2012 senior class led it to new heights. The Patriots are a solid No. 5 with a 13-1 record.
Africentric is coming off a 57-54 loss to Columbus South on Jan. 18 but still controls its own destiny in the City League-South Division.
Dublin Coffman is coming off a double-digit loss to Reynoldsburg but has battled through a tough schedule and gets the nod at No. 7.
Among the other intriguing games of the week is Westerville North against Brookhaven, a Division II area power whose only blemishes are two-point losses to Centennial and Northland. North and Brookhaven meet Jan. 26 at Capital University.
