Despite losses, poll remains mostly intact

Two of the teams in last week’s Super 7 lost games over the past seven days, but we’ve chosen not to penalize either because of their competition.

Reynoldsburg has been first in the area coaches poll and Super 7 all season, and it was on the verge of beating top-ranked Twinsburg before falling 45-38 in the Classic in the Country on Jan. 21.

Africentric fell to Millersburg West Holmes 62-50 on Jan. 19 also in the Classic in the Country, but West Holmes was the Division II state runner-up last season.

Things could get shaken up this week.

Northland should have its hands full Jan. 23 when it plays at Eastmoor Academy.

The game of the week unquestionably will be held Jan. 26, when Olentangy plays host to Olentangy Orange at 3:30 p.m. The Pioneers won the first matchup between the programs 57-52 on Dec. 14.

The second meeting, as Olentangy coach John Feasel put it, should be for “all the marbles” in the OCC-Capital Division title race.
