There should be some drama at the district tournament drawing Feb. 10, particularly in Division I.
There’s a reasonable amount of evidence showing that Northland and Westerville North are the top two teams, and Northland probably will get the No. 1 seed since it is 19-0.
Olentangy Liberty seems like a safe bet to get the third seed, but beyond that it’s anyone’s guess.
New Albany has the next-best record but hasn’t played as tough of a schedule as teams like Dublin Scioto, Pickerington Central, Reynoldsburg, Gahanna or Dublin Coffman. That list also isn’t including Westerville South, which beat the Eagles in mid-January and is another solid team.
As always, there are probably a dozen teams or so that could make a run to a district final if they get the right drawing.
In Divisions II and IV, Brookhaven and Africentric, respectively, seem destined to earn top seeds, which would give the City League three of the No. 1 seeds among the four divisions.
Bloom-Carroll likely has the top seed in Division III wrapped up.
During one of the last crucial weeks of the regular season, Northland plays at Brookhaven and Olentangy Liberty travels to Dublin Coffman on Feb. 8 in games with league titles on the line in the City-North and OCC-Central, respectively.
